Kollontaï, it is the label of the designer Gabrielle Tousignant, but also a workshop which employes about twenty passioned persons! From the creative pulse to the finished clothes, every steps are realized at the Montreal’s workshop.Originality, esthetism, comfort, and quality allied in each garment to create a style distancing itself by a play of colors, textures, transparencies and laces which reminds lingerie. The creations with complex cuts embrace the female forms.

Russian political woman, communist and feminist, she contributes to the creation of the international day of the women’s right on March 8, where she represented the St-Petersbourg workers of the textile industry. First woman of the History member of a government and an ambassadress in foreign country, she fought for the progress of the social rights of the women.HISTORIC
Naturally, there was an old sewing machine that belongs to her grandmother, passions have deep roots… Endowed with a strong artistic fiber, Gabrielle ends a formation in drawing of fashion in 1995, then went to Europe and Morocco where she visits museum, schools of fashion and textile industries. When she came back to Canada, she began working on her own models. In 1998, three boutiques in Quebec were selling her creations. Today, they are available almost everywhere in Canada.DESIGNER
The design of Kollontaï passes by the harmonization of the fabrics, the textures and the colors on unique and studied cuttings, elaborated by the eye of Gabrielle, in love with the female silhoutette.In addition to the raw materials, which are in itself a strong source of inspiration, Gabrielle picks her inspirations as they appear, sometimes in a music, sometimes while travelling, looking at a picture…
